Today, every country in the world stands to gain authority over each other. In many countries, internal strife has become so much that human values are being sacrificed there. In many countries, there is the terror of dictators, so terrorists are playing with people's lives every day. To control all this, every country works at its level and at the same time keeps an eye on the world's largest union. This international institution, known as the United Nations, works for the welfare of the whole world by rising above caste, religion, and country.

The main objective of the United Nations is to prevent war in the world, protect human rights, mobilize the process of observing international law, promote social and economic development, improve living standards and fight against diseases. This organization has presented an ideal by serving human life on many important occasions throughout the world. Today many countries in the world are ready to dominate and usurp other countries, but due to the close watch of the United Nations, they are unable to do anything. Whether it is to promote education in the world or to spread awareness about diseases like AIDS or advance technology, it is always ahead.

History of the united nations

The League of Nations was formed in 1929 after the First World War. The League of Nations was largely ineffective and it has the great advantage of the UN being in its place that the United Nations can deploy the armies of its member countries for peace.

Before the United Nations, the League of Nations was established after the First World War. Its purpose was to prevent a possible second world war, but the League of Nations failed to stop the outbreak of world war in the 1930s and was disbanded in 1946. The United Nations adopted the structure and objectives of the United Nations. In 1944, the United States, Britain, Russia, and China met in Washington and agreed on the roadmap to create a world institution. Negotiations between representatives of fifty countries were held in 1945, making this framework the basis. Then on 24 October 1945, the United Nations was established according to the terms of the Declaration.

Today, the United Nations has 193 members. With the independence of the nations, the number of its members increased steadily after the disintegration of the former Soviet Union. Member countries contribute to the running of the United Nations. Contribution is decided based on the capacity of a country. The United States has the highest contribution to the United Nations.

Several independent institutions of the United Nations deal with every issue at different levels like the Food and Agriculture Organization, International Labor Union, World Bank, UNESCO, World Health Organization, etc.

General Assembly: The General Assembly is the most important part of the United Nations. The General Assembly is the principal forum of the United Nations for debate on any issue. It is the only body in the United Nations that includes representatives from all countries. Each member has one vote. Member countries in the United Nations can discuss any issue from international security to the budget of the United Nations. The General Assembly can issue its recommendations after consultation but it cannot force a country to accept these recommendations. The General Assembly may adopt major concerns among member states as a declaration.

Security Council: The Security Council has been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining world peace and security. The United States, Russia, China, France, and Britain are its five permanent members. The five permanent members of the Security Council have many important rights, therefore disputes arise many times over it. At the time of the founding of the United Nations in 1945, the number of its members was 50, which has increased to 193 today. During these sixty-five years, the world has also changed in every respect, but the representation of the nations of the world in the Security Council remains the same.

UNESCO: If there is anybody of the United Nations that believes in its functioning and who has done the best work, then it is UNESCO. This institution aims to spread peace and development through education, science culture, and communication.

Failures of the United Nations: Whenever we think about the failures of the United Nations, why an institution that is higher than all countries and all governments fail. Is America the reason for this? It is well known that today, if anyone has the most impact on the United Nations, then it is America. The United Nations could not see what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. After all, why massacres were allowed in countries like Congo and Libya. Today, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan remain mere cemeteries where people are afraid to leave their homes. After all, why are the eyes of this institution closed? Afghanistan has been made a ruin and even today the common people in Iran are not able to live a normal life. Clear pressure can be seen on this institution of America.

It is not that there are only failures associated with this institution, but at times there have been allegations of espionage and sexual exploitation of high officials.

If you look at the successes after the failures, then it is known that the United Nations has also done a good job in many areas. Organizations like UNESCO, UNICEF have made a special contribution in making the life of the common man easier. The United Nations has attracted the attention of governments and the public on some such topics, which would have remained untouched and neglected in the absence of it.
